According to David Brooks, author of The Road to Character, “we live in a society that encourages us to think about how to have a great career but leaves many of us inarticulate about how to cultivate the inner life.” He writes that, without a strategy for building character “not only your inner life but also your external life will eventually fall to pieces.”
Underlying Brooks’ view is the assumption that there is a knowable pathway to thriving. This view is supported by science and is foundational to the field of positive psychology and the faithful brain approach to human development explored in Dr. Matheson’s book, Your Faithful Brain.
The Faithful Brain Institute’s Character Initiative exists to help you thrive through the building of twenty-four character strengths. The initiative consists of:
A 360 degree assessment of the expression in your life of the twenty-four character strengths;
A 30-day exercise experience that taps neuroplastic capabilities in the brain to help increase the natural expression of character strengths in your life; and
Access to the level of support and encouragement you desire to maximize the effectiveness of the exercise.
There is no charge for participation but we will ask you for feedback so we can continue to improve the program.
Getting started is simple. Click HERE to complete a self-assessment of your character strengths. We will guide you from there.
We hope you don’t, but you are free to stop participating at anytime. We promise not to send you annoying emails.
Are you associated with a group, organization or ministry that might be interested in incorporating character strengths building into their program? We would love to explore that with you. Drop me a note at firstname.lastname@example.org.
